About us

The team here at Phlox Floral is made up of me Libby Ruddenklau Nicholson, my husband Ryan and our son Darcy.

All roads have lead me to a career in floristry. After a last minute decision to not study towards a degree in fine arts, I ended up at Lincoln University to study agricultural science and environmental management. I still nurtured my creative side, picking up pottery as a hobby. 

Ryan and I purchased our first property in Ashburton back in 2020, 3ha of gardens, fruit trees and growing structures - Terrace Acres was born. We begun by selling berries at the farmers market, but after my brother and his wife asked me to do the florals for their wedding in 2022 I fell in love with creating with flowers. From then friends started to ask me to do the florals for their weddings, and then complete strangers. Combining my two loves of growing and creating has given me a new purpose, passion and flexibility to be at home with my son Darcy while he grows up.

Phlox floral begun following our move back to my hometown of Winton after 9 years in living in Canterbury. I’m looking forward to working with you on all of life’s important events.
